EPA Recognizes Parmenter For The Third Year With 2016 ENERGY STAR Partner Of The Year – Sustained Excellence Award

MIAMI, Fla., March 28, 2016 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has recognized Parmenter with a 2016 ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for its continued leadership in protecting our environment through superior energy efficiency achievements. This will be Parmenter’s third year receiving the Partner of the Year award, and the company’s accomplishments will be recognized in Washington, D.C. on April 13, 2016.

“We are honored to receive the Partner of the Year Award for the third year in a row,” said Steve Harrison, Managing Director of Facilities and Sustainability at Parmenter. “It speaks volumes of the commitment Parmenter has to protecting the environment. It is exciting to see the impact we’ve made through our internal sustainability program; including LEED™ certification projects, ENERGY STAR labels, and a commitment to continuous improvement in energy, water, and waste streams at our buildings.”

Parmenter will be honored for improving the average ENERGY STAR score of the entire portfolio over the last year, publically promoting the benefits of benchmarking buildings in the EPA’ ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager website, and earning the ENERGY STAR 2015 label at over 75% of Parmenter assets.

“Since the mid-90s, Parmenter has been actively involved in reducing the impact its buildings have on the environment by incorporating holistic management principles to the operations of its buildings,” said Christopher McGrew, President and Chief Investment Officer at Parmenter. “We believe that the most ambitious environmental policy will not be successful unless our employees and tenants understand the philosophy behind it. We have ongoing training programs to educate and raise environmental awareness among our employees and tenants, and we encourage everyone to take ownership and draw up their own personal action plan of the environmental issues they face at the buildings.”

Many of the buildings in Parmenter’s portfolio are either LEED certified or in the process of earning LEED certification, and the company aims to reach an ENERGY STAR rating of at least 75 at its buildings, with an overall portfolio average of 80 or higher. Parmenter also pursues certification in the BOMA 360® Performance Program for its buildings, and to date, the company has won a total of 57 TOBY® Awards presented by BOMA International.

“By continued collaboration with ENERGY STAR, Parmenter is helping Americans save money, save energy, and do their part to reduce our nation’s greenhouse gas emissions that exacerbate climate change,” said EPA Administrator Gina McCarthy. “I’m proud to recognize Parmenter with the highest form of ENERGY STAR recognition, as the winner of the 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award. Parmenter demonstrates a strong commitment to energy efficiency and to preserving a healthy planet for future generations.”

The 2016 Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Awards are given to a variety of organizations to recognize their contributions to reducing harmful carbon pollution through superior energy efficiency efforts. These awards recognize ongoing leadership across the ENERGY STAR program, including energy-efficient products, services, new homes, and buildings in the commercial, industrial, and public sectors.
